This hike is for the Tiger, Wolf and Bear dens. The entire family is invited to participate; parents must hike with their boy(s).
The group will hike to the top of Mount Wachusett accompanied by long-time Lancaster outdoorsman and hiker Bob Lidstone. Bob is very knowledgeable about the animals, plants and trees that we’ll see on the way, and will share his knowledge with the group. This is a great opportunity for the entire family to enjoy one of our local treasures – Mount Wachusett.
Meet at 10:30am at the ski area ticket windows. Park in the main parking area for the ski mountain. Note that there is an Apple Fest going on that weekend, so there will likely be lots of activity. However, we’ll soon put that behind us as we head up the Balance Rock Trail toward our first sight, Balanced Rock.

The hike is approximately one mile to the summit with one part that’s quite steep. After eating lunch at the top, we will hike back down. Expect to return to the parking lot by about 2:30pm.
In den meetings this week, leaders will remind the boys of the six essential take-alongs for a hike. You should also bring a lunch to eat at the top.
