The boys and their siblings spent an exciting and fun-filled day outdoors at the Shirley Rod & Gun Club on Saturday, competing with surrounding Packs in the Council-wide Polar Bear Derby. Challenging events in the morning and afternoon were sandwiched around a tailgate hot lunch featuring Fajitas, meatballs, mac & cheese and enough hot dogs to feed an army!
The Derby got underway at 9AM with approximately 25 boys and siblings making up three teams from Pack 9. Kids competed in events like “snowbowling,” a snow shoe relay rack, the “Lightening Bolt” throw (first place!), memory games (third place!) and more. At noon, each Pack put on their best tailgate lunch while District Executives visited each and sampled their offerings.
Events resumed in the afternoon with Pack 9 taking adding another first place in the Chariot Race!
Everyone had a blast in the crisp winter air and kids were not the only ones who slept well that night! 😉
